The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Caribbean Coast as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Caribbean Coast defeated 7th ranked UNI Basket in Managua 87-75. They outrebounded UNI Basket 48-29 including 35 on the offensive glass. Caribbean Coast looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-1992) chipped in 22 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) with 29 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caribbean Coast (12-4) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. UNI Basket lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. Fourth ranked Real Esteli (11-4) beat at home 10th ranked Tigres (2-13) by 15 points 93-78, which is the biggest margin this round. American-Puerto Rican Christopher Gaston (201-1989, college: Fordham) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Isaiah Palermo supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Even 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Puerto Rican guard Jose Perez (188-1999) did not help to save the game for Tigres. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Real Esteli have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Brumas.
