Byrd number one in Nicaragua LSBF for round 17- October 6, 2023
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, six rebounds and four assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Real Esteli (10-6) 78-69. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Jaguares is placed at 2nd position in Nicaraguan LSBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Jaguares will need more victories to improve their 10-6 record. In the team's last game Byrd had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. She turned to be Jaguares' top player in her first season with the team. The second best player in last round's games was another Jaguares' star - young American D'Asia Chambers (182-G/F-1992). Chambers had a very good evening with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course Jaguares cruised to a 78-69 relatively comfortable win over Real Esteli (10-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Jaguares consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. Her team's 10-6 record is not bad at all. Chambers is a newcomer at Jaguares, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.6ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 7.8rpg and 4.6apg. Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Shannen Peralta (F-2003) of league's top team Tipitapa. Peralta showcased her all-around game by recording 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the last round. She was a key player of Tipitapa, leading her team to a 88-59 easy win against the lower-ranked UNI (#5, 3-13). Tipitapa confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 4 lost games. Peralta has a great season in Nicaragua. After 16 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (6th best), rebounds with 12.4rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 3.0apg (9th best).
