This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Leones (12-5) to fifth ranked Leon (11-6) 80-78 on Tuesday evening. Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 8 rebounds. Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kaleb Hunter (193-1998, college: UNCG) replied with 31 points and 8 rebounds for Leones. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leon maintains fifth position with 11-6 record. Leones at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. Leon's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .
The game in Managua was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Brumas (14-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Jaguares (8-10). Brumas managed to secure a 8-point victory 90-82. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists and Dalton Cacho who added 26 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Puerto Rican power forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (209-1990, college: UNLV) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds. Brumas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Caribbean Coast and Real Esteli. Jaguares lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

They dropped to the bottom place with 15 games lost. Real Esteli will meet at home league's leader Caribbean Coast in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rivas will have a break next round.
