Morman number one in Nicaragua LSB for round 27- November 4, 2023
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Indigenas (#8, 6-16) 97-90. UNI Basket maintains the 7th position in Nicaraguan LSB. UNI Basket is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-15 record. Morman turned to be UNI Basket's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Southern Mississippi star has very solid stats this year. Morman is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 13.7rpg) and averages impressive 1.2bpg and 50.7% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was young American Tylan Dean (185-G-1999) of Indigenas. Dean had a very good evening with 38 points and 4 rebounds. Bad luck as Indigenas lost that game 90-97 to slightly higher-ranked UNI Basket (#7, 7-15). Indigenas is still second from the bottom in the standings. 16 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Indigenas managed to get this year. Dean is a newcomer at Indigenas, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.6ppg (#9). His other stats are also decent: 6.7rpg and 3.8apg. Third on the list of top players last round was another UNI Basket's star - American guard Robert Nieves (186-G-1999). Nieves got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for four assists. He was another key player of UNI Basket, helping his team with a 97-90 win against slightly lower-ranked Indigenas (#8, 6-16). The chances of UNI Basket not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 15 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Nieves could try to bring UNI Basket's a little bit higher in the standings. Nieves has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.9ppg (7th best). He also has 2.1spg and FGP: 50.3%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Kaleb Hunter (193-G-1998) of Leones - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Zekiah Owens (197-G/F-1998) of Indigenas - 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Jorge Gonzalez (198-G/F-1995) of Caribbean Coast - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists 7. Owens Perez (206-F/C-1992) of Caribbean Coast - 18 points and 10 rebounds 8. Timothy Simmons (195-PF-1992) of Brumas - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 9. Dalton Cacho (200-PF-1993) of Brumas - 10 points and 7 rebounds 10. Marvin Cairo (203-C-1991) of Brumas - 19 points and 11 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
