LSB Round 30 (Regular Season): Leones lose to UNI Basket in the biggest upset of the week

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most shocking disappointment of round 30 was a home defeat of 5th ranked Leones (16-9) to eighth ranked UNI Basket (8-18) 85-80. UNI Basket forced 19 Leones turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Tyler Morman (206-1997, college: Southern Miss) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) chipped in 31 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Kaleb Hunter (193-1998, college: UNCG) with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Leones' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. UNI Basket maintains eighth position with 8-18 record. Leones at the other side keep the fifth place with nine games lost.
The game in Matagalpa was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Jaguares (10-15) played at the court of eighth ranked Indigenas (8-17). Indigenas managed to secure a 6-point victory 82-76. American guard Tylan Dean (185-1999, college: Rogers St.) notched 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Zekiah Owens supported him with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by Argentinian forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-1989) did not help to save the game for Jaguares. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indigenas moved-up to seventh place. Jaguares lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost.
Fourth ranked Leon (17-7) crushed at home 10th ranked Rivas (2-22) by 68 points 136-68, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The best player for the winners was Xavier de la Rosa who scored 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Leon's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Kender Ibarra who recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds. Leon have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 17-7 record. Rivas lost fourteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games.

In the last game of round 30 Brumas destroyed Tigres on the opponent's court 93-52.




Leon - Rivas 136-68

Fourth ranked Leon (17-7) crushed at home 10th ranked Rivas (2-22) by 68 points 136-68, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. Leon dominated down low during the game scoring 92 of its points in the paint compared to Rivas' 46. Leon forced 23 Rivas turnovers and outrebounded them 46-27 including 29 on the offensive glass. Leon looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Rivas' players. The best player for the winners was Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) who scored 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). American-Puerto Rican forward Jonathan Ocasio (196-1992, college: New Haven) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. Five Leon players scored in double figures. Leon's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Kender Ibarra who recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds and Luis Urbina (180-1996) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively. Leon have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 17-7 record. Rivas lost fourteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Tigres (3-21) were crushed at home by second ranked Brumas (20-5) 93-52 on Friday. Brumas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 26. Brumas forced 27 Tigres turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tigres' players. The best player for the winners was American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) who scored 15 points and 8 assists. The former international Dalton Cacho (200-1993) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Brumas players scored in double figures. Brumas' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican Antonio Gordon (206-2001, college: Oklah.Christian) who recorded 18 points and American power forward Lorenzo Martinez (203-1997, college: Southwestern, KS) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Brumas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-5 record behind leader Caribbean Coast. Tigres lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 21 games lost.
