UNI Basket - Brumas 60-78

Brumas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Brumas players scored in double figures. American forward Tyler Morman (206-1997, college: Southern Miss) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) added 15 points in the effort for UNI Basket. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Real Esteli shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. The former international swingman Jared Ruiz (188-1992) scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Puerto Rican guard Cliff Duran (193-1989) chipped in 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. James Jones responded with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Argentinian forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-1989) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Caribbean Coast dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 30. They outrebounded Indigenas 60-30 including a 22-0 advantage in defensive rebounds. Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) scored 25 points to lead the charge for the winners and Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-1992) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. American guard Chris Moten-Jackson (190-1989, college: LA Pierce JC) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Tylan Dean (185-1999, college: Rogers St.) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Indigenas players scored in double figures.
