El Ward tabs Janae Barnes, ex Real Esteli

Janae Barnes

Gezert El Ward (Superleague) has signed Janae Barnes, a 28-year-old American guard who stands at 183cm tall. Barnes, who played college basketball at Johnson CCC, most recently played for Real Esteli in the Nicaraguan LSBF.

In her 14 games last season, she averaged 13.9ppg, 7.6rpg, 1.8apg, and 2.1spg. Barnes played a key role in helping her team reach the Nicaraguan League final. She had a great season, being named League Player of the Week twice and earning a spot on the Latinbasket.com All-Nicaraguan LSBF Second Team.

She's a highly experienced player who has traveled extensively during her professional career. She has played in five different countries across three continents: Europe, Latin America, and North America. Her previous professional stints include playing for Kosovo's Bashkimi, Mexico's Plateras, Albania's Berleti, WABA's Lady Magic, and WUBA's NorCal Raiders and Hollywood Wonder.

Her team won the Albanian Cup in 2022.

She attended Johnson County Community College until 2015, and this upcoming season will mark her ninth season in professional basketball.
