TBN Round 9 (Regular Season): Undefeated Jaguares lose their first game against San Judas

The Regular Season in TBN just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Jaguares (7-1) in Managua on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked San Judas (7-3) 89-85. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Jaguares. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. San Judas made 35-of-45 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Jaguares only scored thirteen points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Jaguares helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international point guard Daniel Tenorio (177-1990) stepped up and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Rudy Taylor (198-1983) chipped in 17 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was international Kevin Andino (186-2002) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. San Judas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Jaguares at the other side still keep top position with one game lost.
Bottom-ranked Leon (0-9) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to thirteenth ranked Tigres (4-4) 122-70. Puerto Rican swingman Hector Rodriguez (-2005) nailed 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals for the winning side and Jorge Lazo accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Carlos Valdivia came up with a double-double by scoring 47 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for Leon in the defeat. Tigres moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Leon lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost.

In the last game of round 9 Indigenas were destroyed by Caribbean Coast on the opponent's court 91-57.



Caribbean Coast - Indigenas 91-57

There was a minor upset in Managua where 16th ranked Indigenas (2-5) were crushed by eighteenth ranked Caribbean Coast (2-3) 91-57. Caribbean Coast dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 34. Caribbean Coast forced 20 Indigenas turnovers and outrebounded them 52-34 including 23 on the offensive glass. Caribbean Coast players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Forward Neyton Padilla (-2004) nailed 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international Andy Williams (200-2002) accounted for 17 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Five Caribbean Coast players scored in double figures. Franklin Marin (-2004) came up with 17 points and Johnston Huerta (-2001) added 16 points respectively for Indigenas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caribbean Coast moved-up to sixteenth place. Indigenas at the other side dropped to the seventeenth position with five games lost. They share it with Bonanza.

Tigres forced 44 Leon turnovers and outrebounded them 56-44 including a 27-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Puerto Rican swingman Hector Rodriguez (-2005) nailed 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals for the winning side and forward Jorge Lazo (-2004) accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Tigres players scored in double figures.
