Valdivia number one in Nicaraguan TBN for round 9

Carlos Valdivia had a great game in the last round for Leon, receiving a Hoops Agents TBN Player of the Week award for round 9.
The player had a double-double of 47 points and 16 rebounds, while his team in a lost game to Tigres (#9, 4-4) 70-122. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Leon maintains the 21th position in Nicaraguan TBN. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 9 games and recorded no victories. In the team's last game Valdivia had a remarkable 64.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Leon, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Carlos Valdivia has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.2ppg. Valdivia is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 11.0rpg) and averages impressive 57.3% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Puerto Rican Hector Rodriguez (G/F-2005) of Tigres de Chinandega. Rodriguez had a very good evening with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led Tigres to another comfortable win outscoring Leon (#21, 0-9) 122-70. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Tigres managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 9th place. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Rodriguez is a newcomer at Tigres, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Andy Williams (200-PF-2002) of Costa Caribe Managua (#16). Williams showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, 13 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Caribbean Coast, leading his team to a 91-57 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Indigenas (#18, 2-5). The chances of Caribbean Coast ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Williams could help Caribbean Coast to bring them higher in the standings. Williams has a very solid season. In 4 games in Nicaragua he scored 13.3ppg.
