TBN Round 14 (Regular Season): Sebaco beat Tigres by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 14 in the TBN took place in Corinto. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Tigres (10-8) to seventh ranked Sebaco (11-5) 86-84 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tigres. Sebaco had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international guard David Toruno (-1992) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Jeedlaff Zeledon contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Puerto Rican swingman Hector Rodriguez (-2005) replied with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Tigres. Tigres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sebaco moved-up to sixth place. Tigres at the other side keep the eighth position with eight games lost.
TBN top team - Brumas (16-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventeenth ranked Jass (4-11) in Managua 70-53. The former international Juan Herrera (187-1996) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Dayton Cacho chipped in 9 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Brumas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Michael Lampson responded with 0 points and 20 rebounds. Brumas have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-1 record. Jass lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Bonanza.
Bottom-ranked Leon is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 18th consecutive match to fourth ranked UNAN de (13-4) 111-38 on Sunday evening. Kelvin Rivera notched 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 13 points and 5 assists by Talal Rahaman did not help to save the game for Leon. There were no big surprises in other games of round 14: Caribbean Coast beat San Isidro on the road 66-65. Sur Rivas lost to Hurricane on its own court 95-101. Leones unfortunately lost to Alcaldia Alma in Managua 61-68. San Judas managed to beat La Libertad at home 72-58. Indigenas were defeated by Tipitapa on the opponent's court 85-67. Real Esteli was beaten by Jaguares in a home game 62-75. Carazo won against UNAN de on the road 68-60.
The most impressive performance of 14th round was 19 points and 15 rebounds by Ervin Morgan of Carazo.



San Isidro - Caribbean Coast 65-66

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Caribbean Coast (9-5) edged 9th ranked San Isidro (9-9) in Matagalpa 66-65 on Sunday. Caribbean Coast forced 23 San Isidro turnovers and outrebounded them 54-38 including a 29-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. International forward Troy Andrews (196-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Andy Williams (200-2002) supported him with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Caribbean Coast's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 17 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists by Esmilder Rojas (187-1985) did not help to save the game for San Isidro.
