TBN top team - Brumas (17-1) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat twelfth ranked La Libertad (8-9) in Juigalpa 67-57. It was a great evening for the former international Juan Herrera (187-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Lorenzo Martinez (206-1997, college: Southwestern, KS) helped adding 10 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Erling Lopez (-1994) with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Brumas have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-1 record. La Libertad lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost.
Sixteenth ranked Leones (6-12) beat at home 15th ranked UNAN de (6-12) by 15 points 71-56, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a quality performance for Lindell Downs who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Caleb Lara accounted for 14 points and 4 assists. Angel Fernandez (-2004) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for UNAN de in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with UNAN de. UNAN de lost their third game in a row.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Managua: Caribbean Coast (#9) and Jass (#17). Caribbean Coast (10-5) won against visiting Jass (4-12) 62-48. The best player for the winners was Vanchael Britton who scored 16 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Michael Lampson who recorded 7 points and 21 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Caribbean Coast. They moved-up to eighth place. Jass lost their ninth game in a row. They dropped to the eighteenth position with 12 games lost.
