Alvarez's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Dominican Rep. Shooting guard Francisco Alvarez (SG) put on an amazing game in the last round for Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 24 rebounds, while his team beat Tigres (#8, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 83-76. Thanks to this victory UNI Basket moved-up to the 4th position in Nicaraguan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. UNI Basket will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Alvarez had a remarkable 58.8% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at UNI Basket, through which he has constantly improved. Alvarez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.5ppg) and averages solid 2.5bpg.

Second best performed player last round was Antonio Gordon (206-SF -2001) of Brumas de Jinotega. He is American-Puerto Rican in his first season at Brumas. In the last game Gordon recorded an impressive double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Brumas lost that game 84-91 to Jaguares (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Gordon is one of the most experienced players at Brumas and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.0ppg (#1). He also registered 7.7 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ezequiel Colon (187-G-1999) of Tigres de Chinandega (#8). Colon showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 9 assists in the last round. Despite Colon's great performance the Tigres lost 76-83 to UNI Basket (#4, 2-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Tigres can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Colon has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (5th best) and assists with 7.0apg (best passer).
