Puerto Rican shooting guard Ismael Cruz (190-SG-2000, college: Indian Hills) was the top scorer of the day in the world yesterday with the 61 points he had in the Nicaraguan league. Cruz graduated from Indian Hills Community College three years ago. His excellent performance made his team Real Esteli beat the Indigenas 145 to 100. He is quite the traveller as his pro career brought him to five different countries on three different continents (Europe Latin America and of course North America). Cruz's team was the regular season runner-up in the Puerto Rican BSN Group B earlier this year. Among many awards he was selected to the Latinbasket All-Nicaraguan LSB Import Player of the Year and First Team in 2022. He was selected to the Latinbasket Puerto Rican BSN All-Rookie Team back in 2021.
