Matos number one in Nicaragua LSB for round 18 (by Hoops Agents)

Puerto Rican Guard Jorge Matos (185-G-1992) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Costa Caribe Managua, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 32-year old player had a double-double of 45 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Indigenas (#8, 3-18) with 16-point margin 112-96. Costa Caribe is placed at 3rd position in Nicaraguan LSB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Costa Caribe will need more victories to improve their 15-5 record. In the team's last game Matos had a remarkable 76.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Costa Caribe's top player in his first season with the team. Jorge Matos has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.8ppg. Matos is in league's top in assists (8th best: 5.0apg) and averages impressive 57.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Costa Caribe's star - young international power forward Andy Williams (200-PF-2002). Williams had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds. Of course together with Matos he helped Costa Caribe Managua with another comfortable win 112-96 over the lower-ranked Indigenas (#8, 3-18) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Costa Caribe to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 15-5 record is not bad at all. Williams is well-known at Costa Caribe and together with Jorge Matos are proven team's leaders.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Dean Tylan (185-G-1999) of Indigenas de Matagalpa (#8). Tylan showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, 20 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Tylan's great performance the Indigenas lost 96-112 to the higher-ranked Costa Caribe (#3, 15-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Indigenas can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-18 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Tylan has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.1ppg (5th best), rebounds with 8.6rpg (6th best) and assists with 6.8apg (3rd best). He also has 3.6spg, 1.6bpg, a FGP of 52.9% and 3PT: 49.6%.
