LSBF Round 8 (Regular Season): #1 Tipitapa is defeated by Jaguares

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Tipitapa (11-2) in Managua on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Jaguares (10-2) 91-74. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Jaguares made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and American guard Destiny Pitts (178-1999, college: Texas A&M) who added 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Jaguares have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-2 record behind leader Tipitapa. Defending champion Tipitapa still keeps top place with two games lost.
Very significant was Real Esteli's (#3, 7-6) victory against one of their biggest challengers Leonas (3-9) 86-22. The winners were led by American center Danielle Adams (185-1989, college: Texas A&M) who scored that evening 13 points and 4 assists and Anahya Hodgson supported her with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Even 7 points and 6 rebounds by guard Jennifer Espinoza (-2005) did not help to save the game for Leonas. Real Esteli maintains third position with 7-6 record having four points less than leader Tipitapa. Leonas at the other side keep the fourth place with nine games lost.

Real Esteli's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jaguares (10-2) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Tipitapa. Loser Real Esteli keeps the third place with six games lost.

In the last game of round 8 winless UNI was destroyed by Tipitapa on the opponent's court 118-38.

Very expected game in Managua where bottom-ranked UNI (0-12) was crushed by first ranked Tipitapa (11-2) 118-38 on Sunday. Tipitapa dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to UNI's 26. Tipitapa forced 49 UNI turnovers and outrebounded them 46-29 including a 28-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tipitapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 1 passes made by UNI's players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Shannen Peralta (-2003) who scored 30 points and 8 rebounds. Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Tipitapa players scored in double figures. Tipitapa's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melkiz Mejia produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and Genesis Robles (-2008) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-2 record.
