Tipitapa forced 22 Leonas turnovers and outrebounded them 53-40 including 35 on the offensive glass. Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) notched 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and center Linda Patterson supported her with 6 points and 14 rebounds. Even 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by Puerto Rican guard Paola Maldonado (176-1999) did not help to save the game for Leonas. Guard Jennifer Espinoza (-2005) added 16 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
