TBN Round 17 (Regular Season): Jaguares beat UNAN de in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Managua: Jaguares (#5) and UNAN de M. (#7). Jaguares (10-3) crushed visiting UNAN de M. (9-6) by 47 points 101-54. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UNAN de M.. Jaguares maintains fifth place with 10-3 record. UNAN de at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Jaguares are looking forward to face higher ranked Tigres (#3) in Corinto in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UNAN de will have a break next round.
Leader San Isidro delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they crushed 11th ranked La Libertad (6-8) 90-67 in Juigalpa. San Isidro (14-1) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place. La Libertad at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. San Isidro will play against Leon (#20) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. La Libertad will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Nicaragua U16 (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-66 loss to thirteenth ranked Sebaco (6-7) in Managua on Saturday evening. Sebaco moved-up to twelfth place. Nicaragua U16 lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. They share the position with Leon. Sebaco will meet at home higher ranked Brumas (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nicaragua U16 will play against Bonanza (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Other games of round 17 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
La Trinidad was crushed by Tipitapa in Managua 76-49. Leones beat Bonanza at home 73-65. Jass lost to Academia PLAV on the opponent's court 60-74. Sur Rivas unfortunately lost to Tigres in a home game 91-96. Indigenas were rolled over Brumas on the road 65-104.



Nicaragua U16 - Sebaco 66-96

Bottom-ranked Nicaragua U16 (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-66 loss to thirteenth ranked Sebaco (6-7) in Managua on Saturday evening. There was no surprise in Managua where 9th ranked La Trinidad (6-6) was crushed by second ranked Tipitapa (13-2) 76-49 on Saturday. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Tipitapa. They maintain second place with 13-2 record behind leader San Isidro. Loser La Trinidad dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Tipitapa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. La Trinidad will play against Sur Rivas (#15) and hope to secure a win.

Leones - Bonanza 73-65

There was a small surprise in Managua where tenth ranked Leones (7-6) defeated 8th ranked Bonanza (8-3) 73-65 on Saturday. Leones moved-up to ninth place. Loser Bonanza keeps the eighth position with three games lost. Leones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bonanza will play against Nicaragua U16 (#21) in Managua and hope to secure a win.

Academia PLAV - Jass 74-60

Very expected game in Managua where 19th ranked Jass (2-13) were defeated by twelfth ranked Academia PLAV (7-7) 74-60 on Saturday. Academia PLAV moved-up to tenth place. Jass lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the nineteenth position with 13 games lost. Academia PLAV will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
