Martinez's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

26-year old forward Josmel Martinez (198-F-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Jaguares de la UAM and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
He had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Tigres (#7, 0-2) with 34-point margin 96-62. It allowed Jaguares to consolidate first place in the Nicaraguan league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Jaguares won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Jaguares' top player in his first season with the team. Broward College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Martinez is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 9.5rpg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 62.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Oenis Medina (203-F-1998) of Costa Caribe Managua. He is American-Puerto Rican forward in his first season at Costa Caribe. In the last game Medina recorded an impressive 30 points and 9 rebounds. It was enough for Costa Caribe to edge Flecheros (1-1) by 6 points 78-72. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Medina is a newcomer at Costa Caribe and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.5ppg (#2). He also registered 11.0 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ezequiel Colon (193-G-1999) of Tigres de Chinandega (#7). Colon showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Colon's great performance the Tigres lost 62-96 to Jaguares (#1, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Tigres can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. Colon has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.5ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 13.0rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 5.5apg (4th best).
