Puerto Rican Guard Luis Lopez (182-G-1998) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Jaguares de la UAM, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (34 points, five rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team Real Esteli (#6, 0-3) with 23-point margin 92-69. Jaguares was forced-out from the top positions in Nicaraguan LSB. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Jaguares won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Lopez had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 14 attempts. He turned to be Jaguares' top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez star has very solid stats this year. Lopez is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.5ppg. Lopez is in league's top in assists (4th best: 6.0apg) and averages impressive 83.3% FGP and 42.9% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Puerto Rican Ezequiel Colon (193-G-1999) of Tigres de Chinandega. Colon had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Tigres lost that game 82-98 to Flecheros (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Colon is a newcomer at Tigres, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 12.0rpg and 5.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Oenis Medina (203-F-1998) of Costa Caribe Managua (#3). Medina showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, 13 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Medina's great performance the Costa Caribe lost 71-79 to Leones (#5, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Costa Caribe needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Medina has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.0ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 11.3rpg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Bernardo Polanco (189-1994) of Flecheros - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Jorge Matos (185-G-1992) of Costa Caribe - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Bartel Lopez (213-C-1989) of Real Esteli - 11 points and 13 rebounds
7. Jensen Campbell (198-C/F-1998) of Real Esteli - 16 points and 7 rebounds
8. Wilson Batista (SF-2003) of Tigres - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Eden Ewing (204-F/C-1997) of Flecheros - 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Daylin Thomas (C-2004) of Real Esteli - 16 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
