Medina's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

27-year old USA-PURn forward Oenis Medina (203-F-1998) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Costa Caribe Managua and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4.
He had a double-double of 34 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Real Esteli (#6, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 95-85. Costa Caribe is placed at 2nd position in Nicaraguan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Costa Caribe will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Medina turned to be Costa Caribe's top player in his first season with the team. Kutztown University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Medina is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.3ppg. Medina is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 11.8rpg).

Second best performed player last round was Jorge Gonzalez (198-G/F-1995) of top-ranked Jaguares de la UAM. He is a swingman in his first season at Jaguares. In the last game Gonzalez recorded an impressive 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for Jaguares to edge slightly lower-ranked Brumas (#3, 2-1) by 4 points 85-81. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Jaguares consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Gonzalez is a newcomer at Jaguares and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Noah Williams (196-G-2001) of Leones ALMA de Managua (#5). Williams scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He was a key player of Leones, leading his team to a 72-59 easy win against Tigres (#7, 0-4). Leones needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Williams has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.3ppg (6th best).
