Ortiz's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

28-year old Puerto Rican point guard Evander Ortiz (180-PG-1997) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Brumas de Jinotega and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
He got a double-double of 34 points and 11 assists, while his team edged out Real Esteli (#6, 2-5) 83-80. Brumas maintains the 2nd position in Nicaraguan league. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Brumas will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. In the team's last game Ortiz had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Brumas' top player in his first season with the team. University of Puerto Rico Bayamon graduate has very impressive stats this year. Ortiz is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.6ppg), assists (2nd best: 7.4apg) and averages solid 2.3spg.

Second best performed player last round was Eden Ewing (204-F/C-1997) of Flecheros de Matagalpa. He is American forward in his first season at Flecheros. In the last game Ewing recorded an impressive double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he led Flecheros to another comfortable win 89-70 over slightly lower-ranked Costa Caribe (#4, 3-4) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Flecheros consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 4-3 record is not bad at all. Ewing is a newcomer at Flecheros and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Jerry Jefferson of Real Esteli (#6). Jefferson scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). Despite Jefferson's great performance the Real Esteli lost 80-83 to the higher-ranked Brumas (#2, 5-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Jefferson as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

8. Jensen Campbell (198-C/F-1998) of Real Esteli - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Denis Perez) of Flecheros - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Josmel Martinez (198-F-1999) of Jaguares - 15 points and 8 rebounds
