Best players of Nicaraguan TBN round 17

Experienced Former international Shooting guard Harold Barberena (179-SG-1982) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Leones ALMA de Managua and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents TBN Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 43-year old shooting guard had a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds, while his team outclassed Americas 2 (#9, 8-7) with 29-point margin 93-64. Leones is placed at 2nd position in Nicaraguan TBN. Leones has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 15-1. In the team's last game Barberena had a remarkable 84.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Leones' top player in his first season with the team. Barberena has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 6.8apg) and averages solid 2.3spg and 60.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international forward Troy Andrews (196-F-2000) of Americas 2. Andrews impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Americas 2 lost that game 64-93 to the higher-ranked Leones (#2, 15-1). This loss caused Americas 2 to drop to 9th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 8-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Andrews is one of the most experienced players at Americas 2 and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.3ppg (#4). He also registered 15.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Sidney Castaneda of San Isidro (#18). Castaneda scored 19 points and grabbed 24 rebounds (!!!). Despite Castaneda's great performance the San Isidro lost 61-99 to the higher-ranked Real Esteli (#6, 12-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. San Isidro can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Castaneda has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.3ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 17.1rpg (#1 in league).
