Herrera's double-double lands him TBN Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

29-year old shooting guard Juan Herrera (187-SG-1996) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Brumas de Jinotega and receives a Hoops Agents TBN Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat UAM Univ. (#3, 16-3) 101-90. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Brumas to take over top position in the Nicaraguan TBN. Brumas has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 16-1. In the team's last game Herrera had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Brumas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Juan Herrera averages this season 14.8ppg, 8.6rpg and 4.2apg.

Second best performed player last round was Erling Lopez (SG-1994) of Mineros de la Libertad. He is a guard in his second season at La Libertad. In the last game Lopez recorded an impressive double-double of 32 points and 16 rebounds. It was enough for La Libertad to edge the lower-ranked UNAN de M. (#16, 5-12) by 1 point 95-94. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. La Libertad keeps 12th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-10 record. Lopez is one of the most experienced players at La Libertad and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.2ppg (#2). He also registered 9.2 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to Sidney Castaneda of San Isidro (#18). Castaneda scored 15 points and grabbed 30 rebounds (!!!). Despite Castaneda's great performance the San Isidro lost 82-83 to the higher-ranked Pescadores (#14, 6-11). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. San Isidro can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Castaneda has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 17.9rpg (#1 in league).

9. Dayton Cacho (186-G-1991) of Brumas - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Leevon Allum (F-2006) of La Libertad - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
