JORGE MATOS

Puerto Rican Jorge Matos (185-G-92) had a very impressive game in the last round for Panteras and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 26-year old guard had the game-high 25 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to beat Caballos (#5, 2-3) 84-78. Panteras is placed at 3rd position in Panamanian LPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Panteras will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Matos had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Panteras' top player in his first season with the team. Matos has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (9th best: 15.8ppg), rebounds (6th best: 8.8rpg), assists (7th best: 4.6apg) and averages solid 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 36-year old Puerto Rican point guard Alvin Cruz (186-PG-82) of CABALLOS DE COCLE. Cruz impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Caballos lost that game 78-84 to slightly higher-ranked Panteras (#3, 3-2). This loss caused Caballos to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Cruz is a newcomer at Caballos and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.5ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 4.5rpg and 4.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was another Panteras' star - Luis Dinolis (185-SG-93). Dinolis scored 16 points and passed eight assists. He was another key player of Panteras, helping his team with a 84-78 win against slightly lower-ranked Caballos (#5, 2-3). Panteras needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 2 lost games. Dinolis has a great season in Panama. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.8ppg (8th best) and assists with 4.8apg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Terrence Shannon (203-F-79) of Correcaminos - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Christophe Massie (206-C/F-77) of Universitarios - 12 points and 15 rebounds
6. Bradley Tumer (183-PG-89) of Universitarios - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Anell Alexis (200-F-90) of Universitarios - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Nate Butler Lind (198-SF-89) of Caballos - 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Isaac St.Rose (190-G/F-83) of Correcaminos - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
