   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89, currently plays in Mexico). He could not help Capitanes (26-13) in their last game. Despite Oglivie's very good performance the first-placed Capitanes (26-13) was badly defeated 97-78 at home by the leading Fuerza Regia in the South group. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds in 31 minutes on the court. Oglivie has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 2FGP: 60.3%(214-355), 3FGP: 8.3% and FT: 72.8% in 49 games he played so far. Ex-Correcaminos de Colon player is currently a member of the Panamanian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Akil Mitchell (206-92, college: Virginia, currently plays in France). He led Boulazac Basket to an easy victory against the closely-ranked JSF Nanterre (12-14) crushing them 90-68 in the French Jeep ELITE ProA on Tuesday night. Mitchell scored 11 points, grabbed 6 boards, handed out 4 passes and blocked 2 shots in 31 minutes. Boulazac Basket Dordogne (14-11) is placed seventh in the Jeep ELITE ProA. It's Mitchell's first season with the team. This year he averages: 9.2ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.6apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 50.8% and FT: 38.2% in 25 games. Mitchell is a naturalized American. He is in the roster of the Panamanian senior national team. Strangely Mitchell has never played in Panama.

   #3. The Panamanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., currently plays in Romania). He led Pitesti to a victory over the third-ranked Oradea (15-9) 90-81 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. Bishop was MVP of the game. He recorded 26 points (!!!), 4 rebounds and 4 assists. BCM U FC Arges Pitesti (10-14) is placed sixth in Group Red. There are only three games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. This season Bishop has relatively solid stats: 13.2ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 52.6%, 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 79.2%. Ex-Correcaminos de Colon player is also a member of the Panamanian senior national team.

   #4. Guard Eugenio Luzcando (190-95, college: Idaho St., currently plays in Argentina) was the main contributor in a Bahia Basket's victory against the league outsider Argentino (8-22) crushing them 89-66 in the Argentinian La Liga last Friday. He was the best player in that game. Luzcando scored 17 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 30 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Bahia Basket (11-16) is placed 15th in the La Liga. This year Luzcando's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 2.7rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg in 23 games. He has a dual citizenship: Panamanian and Chilean. Despite Luzcando played previously for the Chilean U16 national team, he is currently in the Panamanian national team roster.

   #5. An experienced international forward Michael Hicks (196-76, college: Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a San Martin Corrientes' victory against the eighth-ranked Estudiantes Concordia (15-13) 90-84 in the Argentinian La Liga on Sunday night. Hicks scored 10 points. San Martin Corrientes (13-15) is placed 12th in the La Liga. Hicks has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.4ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.1apg. Hicks plays currently for the Panamanian national team.

   #6. Guard Daniel Giron (193-89, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ernesto Oglivie. But that was another game of his team in Mexican LNBP which we would like to mention. Giron helped Capitanes edge the leader Fuerza Regia (31-9) 94-93. He scored 14 points (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group South. Capitanes Ciudad de Mexico (26-13) is placed first. Giron's total stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.7apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Panamanian National Team roster.

   #7. International power forward Jamaal Levy (206-83, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in Argentina) is a teammate of previously mentioned Eugenio Luzcando and both played together in the last Argentinian La Liga game. Levy managed to help Bahia Basket in a victory against the league outsider Argentino (8-22) crushing them 89-66. He scored only 3 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 29 minutes. This year Levy's total stats are: 8.5ppg, 6.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg in 26 games. He is also Panamanian national team player.

   #8. Center Javier Carter (203-91, college: S.Alabama, currently plays in Israel) helped Kiryat Motzkin win their game against the seventh-ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (13-13) 72-60 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Sunday night's game. Carter recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 5 blocks. Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin (17-9) is placed third in the National League. This season Carter has very high stats. He averages: 19.7ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3bpg. Carter is a naturalized American. He plays currently for the Panamanian national team. Carter used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.


The list of other players, who all have Panamanian passport but never been selected to any of Panamanian national teams:

   #1. Doron Lamb (193-G-91, college: Kentucky, currently plays in Greece) could not help Lavrio (6-17) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Lavrio was defeated in an overtime 100-94 at home by the much higher-ranked AEK (#3). Lamb was the top scorer with 23 points. He also added 3 passes. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Lamb has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.4apg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Lamb has never played in Panama.

   #2. Gabriel Giron (192-G-88, currently plays in Mexico) led Capitanes to a 1-point victory against the leader Fuerza Regia (31-9) 94-93 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Friday night's game. He scored 13 points and added 3 passes in 27 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group South. Capitanes Ciudad de Mexico (26-13) is placed first. This year Giron's total stats are: 8.1ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.8apg in 35 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Panamanian and Mexican.

   #3. Anell Alexis (200-F-90, college: Marist, currently plays in Germany) led BV Villingen-Schwenningen to a 1-point victory over the second-ranked Giessen 46ers II (14-8) 101-100 in the German ProB (third division) last Saturday. He was the top player that evening. Alexis scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. wiha Panthers Villingen-Schwenningen (12-10) is placed sixth in South group. Alexis has averaged so far 6.1ppg and 3.3rpg in 18 games. He is a naturalized American. Alexis used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.
