LPB Round 1: Correcaminos hand first loss to Halcones- December 23, 2019
The Regular Season in LPB just started. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Correcaminos - Universitarios 59-50 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Halcones (0-1) in Colon on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Correcaminos (1-1) 59-50. Correcaminos outrebounded Halcones 52-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Yosimar Stewart (197-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Tyler Gaskins (193-92, college: St.Peter's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international Israel Munoz (196-91) answered with 8 points and 12 rebounds and Jose Luis Osio added 15 points and 6 steals in the effort for Halcones. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aguilas were defeated at home 59-73 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Luis Dinolis (185-93, college: Broward CC) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 assists for the winners and Dominican power forward Brayan Martinez (203-91) chipped in 5 points and 15 rebounds. At the losing side Jonathan King (193-90, college: Abil.Christian) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Gabriel Escobar (186-78) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caballos beat guests from David 95-79. Caballos forced 20 Toros turnovers. The former international forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and the former international Adalberto Rojas (200-86) accounted for 19 points. Four Caballos players scored in double figures. Gil Atencio (202-96, college: St.Clair) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Carlos Hoy (192-81) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Toros in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games.
