King number one in Panama for round 3- September 12, 2021
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, seven rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Universitarios (#5, 1-2) 78-70. Atletico Nacional maintains the 2nd position in Panamanian LPB. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Atletico Nacional won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game King had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He has many years of experience at Atletico Nacional, through which he has constantly improved. Former Abilene Christian University star has very solid stats this year. King is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.5ppg and is league's best passer with 6.5apg. King is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 8.5rpg) and averages impressive 3.0spg and 46.7% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was 34-year old former international power forward Josimar Ayarza (205-PF-87) of Caballos. Ayarza had a very good evening with a double-double of 36 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Caballos to another comfortable win 82-68 over Toros (0-2) being unquestionably team leader. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Ayarza is a newcomer at Caballos, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Zacarry Douglas (203-F-95) of Dragones (#3). Douglas scored 19 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Dragones, leading his team to a 79-67 win against #4 ranked Panteras in a game of the week. Douglas has a great season in Panama. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.0rpg (6th best). Other top performing players last week: 4.
