LPB Round 4 of Regular Season- September 14, 2021
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in LPB, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Correcaminos - Universitarios 80-78 Important game to mention about took place in Colon. Top-ranked Correcaminos (3-0) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Halcones (2-2) 80-78 on Saturday evening. They outrebounded Halcones 54-36 including 26 on the offensive glass. Halcones were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds. International forward Michael Hicks (196-76, college: TAMUCC) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Naturalized Chilean guard Eugenio Luzcando (187-95, college: Idaho St.) replied with 24 points and 8 assists and American guard Logan Santiago (185, college: AIC) added 24 points in the effort for Halcones. Halcones' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Correcaminos have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Atletico Nacional. Halcones at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Correcaminos will play against Panteras (#5) in Panama City in the next round. Halcones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Panteras. Toros is still unable to win any game. Atletico forced 20 Toros turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Jonathan King (193-90, college: ACU) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 rebounds and Bryan Flores who added 22 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Atletico players scored in double figures. At the losing side Oscar Zephyrine (190-0) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Daniel Machore (170-6) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atletico have a solid three-game winning streak. Dragones dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 32. They outrebounded Toros 51-26 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Pablo Rivas (198-94, college: NCCU) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Zacarry Douglas (203-95, college: NCCU) who added 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side Colombian center John Hernandez (207-84) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Daniel Machore (170-6) scored 10 points and 7 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Dragones maintains third position with 2-1 record behind leader Atletico Nacional. Loser Toros still closes the standings with four games lost. The former international Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: Southern Miss) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and Jose Montenegro (191-98) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Halcones moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Caballos keep the sixth position with three games lost.
