Correcaminos - Atletico Nacional 90-81 An exciting game was played in Colon. First ranked Correcaminos faced 4th placed Atletico. Host Correcaminos (13-3) defeated guests from Panama City (8-7) 90-81. Correcaminos outrebounded Atletico 34-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 assists. Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-89) contributed with 27 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American-Salvadorean point guard Robert Martinez (185-91, college: OLLU) answered with 21 points and Jonathan King (193-90, college: ACU) added 11 points and 7 assists in the effort for Atletico. Five Atletico players scored in double figures. Correcaminos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-3 record. Atletico at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Panteras. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest. Halcones (12-3) won against visiting Panteras (8-7) 77-73. They outrebounded Panteras 54-33 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Panteras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Chilean guard Eugenio Luzcando (187-95, college: Idaho St.) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Troy Jones (201-92, college: TAMUK) chipped in 22 points. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. Dominican forward Cristian Joan Duran (201-96, college: Tenn Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Alejandro Grant (199-93) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Halcones maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader Correcaminos. Panteras at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Atletico Nacional. Halcones' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Dragones.
