LPB Round 1: Atletico defeat Caballos

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Caballos in Panama City on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Atletico 59-57. Atletico forced 20 Caballos turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Jonathan King (193-1990, college: ACU) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American Adalberto Rojas (200-1986) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Michael Hicks (196-1976, college: TAMUCC) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds for Caballos. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Atletico's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Panama City Halcones.

Grant Alejandro (199-1993) stepped up and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Edward Lopez chipped in 25 points. At the losing side American Antonio Austin (196-1991, college: SDCC) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones will play against Lobos in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Centinelas will play against Caballos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
