Hicks number one in Panama LPB for round 2- October 3, 2022
The 46-year old player was the main contributor (29 points, eight rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Halcones (#4, 1-2) 79-74. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Caballos is placed at 2nd position in Panamanian LPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Caballos will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Hicks had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Caballos' top player in his first season with the team. Former Texas A&M University Corpus Christi star has very solid stats this year. Hicks is in league's top in points (3rd best: 20.7ppg), rebounds (4th best: 8.0rpg) and averages impressive 69.6% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was young Costa Rican Daniel Shedden (191-G/F-1996) of Lobos. Shedden had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Lobos to edge Halcones (1-2) 77-71. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Shedden is a newcomer at Lobos, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.3ppg (#1). He also registered 7.7 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was another Caballos' star - forward Gil Atencio (202-PF-1996). Atencio showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was another key player of Caballos, helping his team with a 79-74 win against #4 ranked Halcones in a game of the week. Caballos needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost games. Atencio has a great season in Panama. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 9.0rpg (2nd best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Aaron Gedeon (203-F-1999) of Atletico Nacional - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Grant Alejandro (199-SF-1993) of Halcones - 27 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Joel Munoz (183-PG-1980) of Atletico Nacional - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Jonathan King (193-SF-1990) of Atletico Nacional - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists 8. Jesus Lombardo (201-C-2000) of Lobos - 12 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Emir Pinillo (194-G/F-2002) of Atletico Nacional - 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Antonio Austin (196-SF-1991) of Centinelas - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues.
