Villar number one in Panama LPBF for round 5 (by Hoops Agents)

Center Natasha Villar (178-C-2005) had a very impressive game in the last round for Cobras, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 19-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds, while her team beat LA U (#5, 2-3) 66-58. Thanks to this victory Cobras moved-up to the 4th position in Panamanian LPBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Cobras will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. Villar has many years of experience at Cobras, through which she has constantly improved. Natasha Villar has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.0ppg) and averages impressive 53.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Ashley Reid (165-G-1998) of league's second-best Club Deportivo Panteras. Reid had a very good evening with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course Panteras cruised to a 59-47 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked LA U (#5, 2-3). Panteras' second position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost just one game this season, while they won 4 matches. Reid is a newcomer at Panteras, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.0ppg (#1). Her other stats are also decent: 5.3rpg and 4.3apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Mexican forward Diana Armas (185-F-1993) of Correcaminos de Colon (#3). Armas scored 13 points and grabbed 19 rebounds (!!!). Despite Armas' great performance the Correcaminos lost 53-56 to #1 ranked Felinas. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Armas has a great season in Panama. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.5ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 13.8rpg (2nd best).

8. Jessica Martino (178-F-2000) of Cobras - 19 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Anayansi Ortiz (185-C) of Aguilas - 8 points and 9 rebounds
10. Layla Lee) of Felinas - 14 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
