LBP 2026 - Motilones tab Josimar Ayarza

Josimar Ayarza

Motilones del Norte (LBP) signed 38-year-old Panamanian power forward Josimar Ayarza (college: Southern Miss) for the upcoming season. He previously played for Caimanes and averaged 10.5ppg and 5.8rpg in four LBP games in Colombia. Ayarza also played for Soles de Santo Domingo Este (LNB) in the Dominican Republic league.
Ayarza represented Panama at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers three years ago. Ayarza's team won Gold and he averaged 8 points per game.
He is a very experienced player. Ayarza has played professionally in Argentina (Echague, Lanus and Dep Viedma), Brazil, Chile (CD Universidad de Concepcion and Los Leones), Dominican Republic, Mexico (Correcaminos and Jefes), Panama (Correcaminos and Caballos), Paraguay (Libertad Asuncion), Puerto Rico, Uruguay (Welcome, Hebraica, Trouville and Bigua), Venezuela, Colombia (Bucaros, Titanes, Toros and Storm) and Nicaragua (Real Esteli). His team made it to the Colombian LBP Apertura Semifinals in 2025.
Among many awards he received, he won the Latinbasket.com All-Panamanian LPB Player of the Year award back in 2020. He is currently in the twilight of his playing career and it may be one of his last seasons, which he could potentially end at Motilones.
He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2011 and this will be his 16th season in pro basketball. Ayarza also played for Cuesta College for 2 years.
