2014 Liga Metropolitana Wrap-Up - Cerro Porteno wins the championship - Jan 18, 2015

Asuncion, Paraguay.- Cerro Porteno, one of the most historical franchises in amateur and pro sports in Paraguay, celebrated its 102nd anniversary with Paraguay's 2014 Liga Metropolitana de Baloncesto's trophy, by completing a sweep (3-0) over Felix Perez Cardozo in the Finals, with a 74-72 win at Sol de America Arena in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Edgar Riveros (94) was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Finals as he was able to score important points for Cerro Porteno even coming off the bench. Anderson Villamayor (190-F-80), of Sportivo Luqueno, was the league's top scorer and Manuel Aponte (179-PG-92), of Felix Perez Cardozo, led the league in 3-point shots scored.

Cerro Porteno, coached by Juan Pablo Feliu, had taken a solid 2-0 advantage with a previous 85-78 win, inspired by Edgar Riveros with 19 points, Ramon Sanchez (194-F-91) with 17, Marcelo Piuma (197-PF-83) with 16, Alejandro Peralta (195-F-91) with 13 and Federico Mellone (193-F/G-85) with 11.

Felix Perez Cardozo, coached by Cristian Viveros , was led by Carlos Luis Vallejos (183-G-92) with 28 points, Nelson Peralta (198-F-88) with 17, Bruno Zanotti (198-SF-82, college: Merrimack) with 16 and Mario Gonzalez (198-F-89) with 12.
