The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Olimpia (#2) and Felix Perez (#3). Felix Perez was smashed at home by 29 points 62-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Olimpia have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Libertad. Felix Perez at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Luqueno. Olimpia is looking forward to face league's leader Libertad in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Felix Perez will play against Luqueno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Metropolitan League top team - Libertad (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked San Jose (0-4) in Asuncion 75-44. Libertad have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Olimpia. San Jose at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Arcabasket. Libertad will play against league's second-placed Olimpia in Asuncion in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. San Jose will play against Arcabasket (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The semifinals are set at the Metropolitano de Basquetbol Masculino. All four teams swept their Quarterfinal series to win beat the opponents with the same 3-0 leads. San Jose overcame Campoalto 87-80, while Olimpia smashed Luqueno 118-66. Sol de America posted a 95-64 win over Ciudad Nueva and Felix Perez Cardozo outscored Libertad 85-70.   [read more]

Four teams grabbed 2-0 leads in the Quarterfinal stage of the Metropolitano Masculino de Basquetbol Torneo Apertura 2018. San Jose beat Campo Alto 79-56 in the opener and added an 81-66 win in game 2. Olimpia demolished Luqueno 127-51 in the first game and celebrated a 103-57 win in game 2.
