Olimpia de Asuncion Kings, reunited forces after losing last saturday by 3 points at home. The team coached by Juan Pablo Feliu
came out with a total different attitude and of course a lot mores accurate in defense and offense.
Playing zone defense most of the time confused Deportivo San Jose Asuncion and took away from the Sky Blue team its best weapon which
is its internal game.
The game went pretty tied until the mid 2nd quarte when Olimpia de Asuncion started to control boards due to a very poor Deportivo San Jose Asuncion s FG %.
Netting only 2 of 15 during the first half, Olimpia de Asuncion led by 10 points after 2 quarters.
Third quarter was a blow out by Olimpia de Asuncion Kings, great execution by Javier Martinez (188-G-78) and Federico Mellone (193-F/G-85) at the point gave The Kings a great rythm
Deportivo San Jose Asuncion could never stop. Great percentage from long range by both of their americans made Deportivo San Jose Asuncion impossible to guard the penetrations either
Alejandro Peralta (195-F-91), Javier Martinez and Federico Mellone aproached.
By the end of 3rd quarter the difference got to 25 points, the game was over, everybody thought that until Javier Martinez got injured. An apparent left hamstring took Javier out of the
game and problems controlling the ball started. Incredibly unaccurate executing offense, Olimpia de Asuncion lost many good chances, gave away 5 turn unforced overs
and Deportivo San Jose Asuncion finally coud get chances to run the floor netting 10 points in fast breaks, also netted 3 pointers through Scott Rogers (196-F, college: Trine) who was the most dangerous Deportivo San Jose Asuncion player.
By minute 38 the difference was only 5 points, almost reduced to 2 points, but a very bad ball handling by Diego Lesme (203-F-95) all alone to score a lay up, turned downs
Deportivo San Jose Asuncion emotionally to finally lose a great chance to tie the game and perhaps win it.
Anthony Kent (208-F/C-83, college: Ball St.) was very efficient controlling the boards and Jaime Lloreda (204-C-80, college: LSU) who was doubled all game long. Ramon Sanchez was very controlled by his defenders and could never find rythm neither good long range percentage.
Final Score Olimpia de Asuncion 93- Deportivo San Jose Asuncion 79 (SERIES 2-1)
