John DeGroat
JOHN DEGROAT

Nacional De Futbol Montevideo (LUB) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old American power forward John DeGroat (201-100kg-85, college: Pittsburgh). He played last summer at San Jose in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others DeGroat was voted Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian LigaA Honorable Mention back in 2015.
He is quite experienced player. DeGroat has played in ten different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Chile (Universidad de Concepcion), Finland (UU Korihait), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico (Fuerza Regia), Ukraine, Argentina (Boca Juniors, La Union, Instituto, Olimpico de La Banda and San Martin Corrientes), Uruguay (Aguada) and CBA (Pittsburgh X.).
DeGroat attended University of Pittsburgh until 2006 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season as a professional player.
He could be described: A physical, athletic, active defender, good shooter and tough, aggressive rebounder. Gives his best offensively in 1-vs-1 situations front to the basket.
