2019 Metropolitan League Round 3 (Semifinals): San Jose completes a sweep to advance to the Finals and Olimpia gets closer

Deportivo San Jose became the first team to advance to the 2019 Finals of Paraguay's Metropolitan League, by completing a three-game sweep over Libertad in the Semifinals with a home win, 104-94, while Olimpia Kings took a 2-1 lead over Sol de America with a second straight win, this time by a 20-point margin as hosts, 93-73.

Scott Rodgers (191-PG-87, college: Drexel) scored 41 points by scoring 8 three-point shots out of 11 attempts to lead San Jose past Libertad, with the help of Bruno Zanotti (198-SF-82, college: Merrimack) with 17 points, Carlos Luis Vallejos (183-G-92) with 12 and Panamanian Jaime Lloreda (204-C-80, college: LSU) with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

For Libertad, the top performers were Gabriel Peralta (201-F-95) with 23 points and 8 rebounds and Diego Bareiro (195-F-91) and Jorge Sequera (194-F-88) with 18 each.

Meanwhile, Olimpia was able to secure another victory thanks to dominant performances by Guillermo Araujo (204-C-82, agency: Pro Sports) with 26 points and 8 rebounds and Michael Hicks (196-F-76, college: Texas A&M-CC) with 21 points and 7 boards. Eric Dawson (206-F/C-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) followed them with 11 points and 9 rebounds.

For Sol de America, 25 points by Jermont Horton (198-F/G-84, college: Rutgers-Newark) were not enough.
