Johnson number one in Paraguay for round 15 (by Interperformances)- October 16, 2019
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Libertad (#3, 9-6) 85-76. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Olimpia to consolidate first place in the Paraguayan Metropolitan League. Olimpia have a solid 12-3 record. Johnson turned to be Olimpia's top player in his first season with the team. Former Mississippi State University star has very solid stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.4ppg) and averages impressive 72.4% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was 43-year old Panamanian Michael Hicks (196-F-76) of Sol de America. Hicks had a very good evening with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Sol de America lost that game 68-75 to slightly higher-ranked San Jose (#2, 10-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sol de America still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-9 record. Hicks is a newcomer at Sol de America, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was Italian Bruno Zanotti (198-SF-82) of league's second-best San Jose. Zanotti scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was a key player of San Jose, leading his team to a 75-68 win against #4 ranked Sol de America. San Jose needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 10 victories and 5 lost games. Zanotti has a great season in Paraguay. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.1rpg (8th best). Bruno Zanotti has also Paraguayan passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player. Other top performing players last week: 4. Carlos Luis Vallejos (183-G-92) of San Jose - 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Fernando Dose (200-F-94) of San Jose - 13 points and 4 rebounds 6. Juan Pablo Cantero (184-PG-82) of San Jose - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Federico Mellone (193-F/G-85) of Olimpia - 11 points and 9 rebounds 8. Jorge Sequera (194-F-88) of Libertad - 20 points and 3 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
