San Jose - Sol de America 116-61 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sol de America in Asuncion on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by San Jose 116-61. San Jose well out of reach of Sol de America shooting 71.9 percent from the field. They outrebounded Sol de America 41-24 including a 39-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Jose looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Sol de America's players. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Vincenzo Ochipinti (191-1999) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five San Jose players scored in double figures. Argentinian Mauricio Vairoleto answered with 12 points and Oscar Toro added 7 points in the effort for Sol de America. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Felix Perez had an easy win 70-56. Felix Perez dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Campo Alto's 12. The former international swingman Jose Rolon (193-2000) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Maxsuel Roque chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Felix Perez players scored in double figures. At the losing side Argentinian Nelson Peralta (195-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Oscar Laconich (184-1986) scored 17 points. Campo Alto's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Libertad A. crushed visiting Colonias G. by 19 points 98-79. Libertad A. made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. International point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Diego Bareiro (195-1991) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Libertad A. players scored in double figures. Forward Fabrizio Aquino (187-2001) came up with 18 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and Kal Arguello added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Colonias G. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
