Martinez's 17 points give him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

43-year old guard Javier Martinez (188-G-1978) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Olimpia K. and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4.
He had the game-high 17 points adding five rebounds and three assists for Olimpia K. in his team's victory, helping them to crush Felix Perez (#3, 1-2) with 24-point margin 82-58. Olimpia K. maintains the 2nd position in their group in Paraguayan league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Olimpia K. won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Martinez just recently signed at Olimpia K. and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Martinez has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 13.0ppg and is league's best passer with 3.0apg. Martinez is in league's top in and averages solid 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Rodney Mercado (191-SF-1999). He is international in his first season at Olimpia K.. In the last game Mercado recorded impressive 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course together with Martinez he helped Olimpia K. with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Felix Perez (#3, 1-2) 82-58. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A. Olimpia K. consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Mercado is a newcomer at Olimpia K. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.
