LNB Round 9: Sol de America is defeated by Libertad A. in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Libertad A. (#3) and Sol de America (#4). Libertad A. (2-2) crushed visiting Sol de America (0-5) by 60 points 118-58. Libertad A. forced 21 Sol de America turnovers and outrebounded them 48-24 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Libertad A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Sol de America's players. Swingman Junior Peralta (170) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and international point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) chipped in 26 points and 7 assists. Libertad A.'s coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Ricardo Queznel with 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Libertad A. maintains third place with 2-2 record behind leader Olimpia K. Sol de America at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Campo Alto. Libertad A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena San Jose.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Filadelfia. Second-best host Mariscal E. (3-3) lost to third ranked Felix Perez (3-3) 84-78. Federico Ferreira nailed 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Alexandre Duarte accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. Felix Perez's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Junior De Los Rios came up with 29 points for Mariscal E. in the defeat. Felix Perez moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Mariscal E.



Mariscal E. - Felix Perez 78-84

The game between Top Four teams took place in Filadelfia. Second-best host Mariscal E. (3-3) lost to third ranked Felix Perez (3-3) 84-78. Felix Perez players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Federico Ferreira nailed 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Brazilian Alexandre Duarte accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Felix Perez players scored in double figures. Felix Perez's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Junior De Los Rios came up with 29 points and Edegar Alvarenga added 21 points and 6 assists respectively for Mariscal E. in the defeat. Felix Perez moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Mariscal E.
