LNB Round 2 (Second Stage): Olimpia K. keep a leadership position

Olimpia K. smashed Mariscal E. in Asuncion 74-54. Olimpia K. forced 23 Mariscal E. turnovers. Forward Guillermo Osorio (192-1985) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Adolfo Lopez chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Olimpia K.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Edegar Alvarenga responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Mariscal E. will play next round against strong Libertad A. trying to get back on the winning streak. Olimpia K. will try to continue on its current victory against Felix Perez. It will be extra interesting game as Felix Perez is their local rival from Asuncion.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Libertad A. and Colonias G.. Libertad A. won against visiting Colonias G. 104-98. Swingman Junior Peralta (170) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Edison Ortiz supported him with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Even 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Argentinian point guard Juan Pablo Corbalan (185-1998) did not help to save the game for Colonias G.. Colonias G.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Libertad A. will play against Mariscal E. in Filadelfia in the next round. Colonias G.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Felix Perez.
San Jose crushed at home Mariscal E. by 37 points 98-61, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The best player for the winners was Fernando Dose who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. San Jose's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Victor Ramires produced 17 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. San Jose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mariscal E. will play against Libertad A. and hope to win that game.

Libertad A. - Colonias G. 104-98

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Libertad A. and Colonias G.. Libertad A. won against visiting Colonias G. 104-98. They outrebounded Colonias G. 51-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. Colonias G. was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Junior Peralta (170) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Edison Ortiz (197-1982) supported him with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Even 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Argentinian point guard Juan Pablo Corbalan (185-1998) did not help to save the game for Colonias G.. Hugo Flores added 17 points for the guests. Five Libertad A. and four Colonias G. players scored in double figures. Colonias G.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
