LNB Round 3: Olimpia K. beat Felix Perez in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Olimpia K. (#1) and Felix Perez (#6). Felix Perez was crushed at home by 32 points 56-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Olimpia K. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Felix Perez's 24. They outrebounded Felix Perez 46-18 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Javier Martinez (188-1978) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. American center Bill Brooks (213, college: LA Harbor CC) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Maxsuel Roque who recorded 19 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia K.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion San Jose.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Asuncion: Colonias G. (#4) and Felix Perez (#6). Colonias G. (1-2) won against visiting Felix Perez (0-4) 58-44. It was a good game for Nestor Lopez (-2000) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Juan Pablo Corbalan contributed with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Brazilian Alexandre Duarte answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Felix Perez. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Colonias G. will play against Mariscal E. (#5) in Filadelfia in the next round. Felix Perez will play on the road against Mariscal E. in Filadelfia and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It was a great evening for Junior Peralta who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was Alexandre Duarte with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Libertad A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Felix Perez will play against Mariscal E. (#5) in Filadelfia and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 3 Libertad A. crushed Mariscal E. in Asuncion 103-83.

Mariscal E. - Libertad A. 83-103

There was no surprise in Filadelfia where Mariscal E. (0-3) was crushed by Libertad A. (3-2) 103-83 on Saturday. Libertad A. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mariscal E.'s 34. Libertad A. had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Libertad A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Edison Ortiz (197-1982) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). International point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) helped adding 21 points and 6 assists. Libertad A.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Eduardo Ramos with 29 points and 4 assists and Victor Ramires scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Libertad A. and four Mariscal E. players scored in double figures. Libertad A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mariscal E. will play against Colonias G. (#4) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
