Campo Alto - Ciudad N. 72-73 The most exciting game of round 3 in the LNB took place in Asuncion. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of Campo Alto (0-4) to Ciudad N. (1-2) 73-72 on Thursday evening. The best player for the winners was Mexican Elias Martinez who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Lucas Saldivar chipped in 22 points. Ciudad N.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Daniel Perez (190-1984) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and forward Martin Mainero (189-1990) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively. (#2) and Felix Perez (#6). Felix Perez was defeated at home 59-70 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Colonias G. shot 24 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Felix Perez only scored three points from the stripe. Felix Perez was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Argentinian point guard Juan Pablo Corbalan (185-1998) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Leandro Ferreira (184-1994) contributed with 25 points and 5 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four Colonias G. players scored in double figures. American center William Brooks (213, college: LA Harbor CC) answered with 8 points and 17 rebounds and Federico Ferreira added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Felix Perez. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. (#5). Libertad A. was defeated at home 81-88 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. San Jose outrebounded Libertad A. 39-28 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian forward Sebastian Picton (197-1992) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. San Jose's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was international point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) with 19 points and 6 assists and the former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
