Ciudad N. - Felix Perez 71-63 Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Ciudad N. (#4) and Felix Perez (#7). Ciudad N. (2-3) won against visiting Felix Perez (1-5) 71-63. Worth to mention a great performance of Mexican Elias Martinez who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Osmar Colina who added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American center William Brooks (213, college: LA Harbor CC) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Ricardo Sarubi scored 21 points. Four Felix Perez players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ciudad N. maintains fourth position with 2-3 record, which they share with Libertad A. Felix Perez lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Ciudad N.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion San Jose. San Jose defeated 3rd ranked Olimpia K. in Asuncion 87-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Olimpia K.. San Jose made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Olimpia K. turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Olimpia K. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds. Argentinian forward Sebastian Picton (197-1992) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. The former international center Guillermo Araujo (204-1982, agency: Pro Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and international point guard Edgar Riveros (184-1991) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Olimpia K.Five Olimpia K. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. San Jose have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Olimpia K. at the other side keeps the third place with one game lost. Olimpia K. will play next round against Campo Alto trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena of Campo Alto. San Jose will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Ciudad N.. It will be extra interesting game as Ciudad N. is their local rival from Asuncion. Felix Perez (1-5) won against visiting Campo Alto (0-5) 83-79. Felix Perez made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Federico Ferreira who scored that evening 21 points and forward Jose Barreto (185-2001) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international swingman Daniel Perez (190-1984) did not help to save the game for Campo Alto. Darwinn Rivera added 13 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four Campo Alto players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Felix Perez left bottom position moving up to sixth place. It was Campo Alto's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. (2-3) crushed one of their biggest challengers Ciudad N. (2-3) in Asuncion 83-48 on Thursday. Libertad A. forced 22 Ciudad N. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by international point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) who scored that evening 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Diego Bareiro (195-1991) supported him with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Libertad A. players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by Juan Marti did not help to save the game for Ciudad N.. Cristian De Leon added 2 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Libertad A. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Ciudad N.
