Rodney Mercado gets MVP of the Week award for Paraguayan LNB (by Hoops Agents)

International Rodney Mercado (191-SF-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Libertad A. and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 23-year old had the game-high 26 points adding seven rebounds and three assists for Libertad A. in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Sol de America (#8, 0-2) with 35-point margin 102-67. It allowed Libertad A. to jump to the first place in the Paraguayan LNB. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Libertad A. won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Mercado had a remarkable 78.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Libertad A. and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Mercado has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.0ppg. Mercado is in league's top in assists (6th best: 1.5apg) and averages solid 2.5bpg,72.0% FGP and 42.9% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian forward Gabriel Peralta (203-F-1995) of second-ranked Olimpia K.. Peralta impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Olimpia K. to another comfortable win outscoring Felix Perez (1-1) 73-44. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Peralta is one of the most experienced players at Olimpia K. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Romeo Smith (202-PF-1995) of Atletico C. (#6). Smith scored 21 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Smith's great performance Atletico C. lost 59-96 to San Jose (#3, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Atletico C. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. The season just started for Smith as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
