LNB Round 14: Felix Perez edge Libertad A. by three points

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNB took place in Asuncion. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Libertad A. (7-7) to fourth ranked Felix Perez (9-5) 85-82 on Monday evening. The best player for the winners was Leonel Bettiga who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Guillermo Araujo (204-1982, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Rodney Mercado (191-1999) produced 29 points for the hosts. Felix Perez moved-up to third place, which they share with Colonias G. Libertad A. at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Colonias G. (#3) and Sol de America (#8). Sol de America was smashed at home by 29 points 77-106 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Brazilian center Vinicius Malachias (209-1999) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Sebastian Galarza contributed with 24 points for the winners. Nicolas Escurra replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds for Sol de America. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Colonias G. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having five points less than leader San Jose, which they share with Felix Perez. Sol de America lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#1) and Campo Alto (#6). Campo Alto was smashed at home by 16 points 71-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Alejandro Peralta scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners. San Jose's coach Daniel Cano used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nelson Peralta responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Undefeated San Jose (14-0) have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 14 victories in a row. Loser Campo Alto keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost.

In the last game of round 14 Olimpia K. crushed Atletico C. in Asuncion 146-59.
