Libertad A. - Felix Perez 82-85 The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNB took place in Asuncion. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Libertad A. (7-7) to fourth ranked Felix Perez (9-5) 85-82 on Monday evening. The best player for the winners was Leonel Bettiga who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Guillermo Araujo (204-1982, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Rodney Mercado (191-1999) produced 29 points and the former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Felix Perez and four Libertad A. players scored in double figures. Felix Perez moved-up to third place, which they share with Colonias G. Libertad A. at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. (#3) and Sol de America (#8). Sol de America was smashed at home by 29 points 77-106 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Colonias G. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sol de America's 38. They outrebounded Sol de America 44-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Colonias G. players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Brazilian center Vinicius Malachias (209-1999) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Sebastian Galarza (185-2001) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four Colonias G. players scored in double figures. Nicolas Escurra replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Juan Marti added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Sol de America. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Colonias G. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having five points less than leader San Jose, which they share with Felix Perez. Sol de America lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Campo Alto was smashed at home by 16 points 71-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Campo Alto's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international forward Alejandro Peralta (195-1991, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian Tobias Gomez chipped in 11 points and 7 assists during the contest. San Jose's coach Daniel Cano used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Nelson Peralta (198-1988) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Martin Mainero (189-1990) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five San Jose and four Campo Alto players scored in double figures. San Jose (14-0) have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 14 victories in a row. Loser Campo Alto keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. (2-12) was crushed by second ranked Olimpia K. (11-3) 146-59 on Monday. Olimpia K. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Atletico C.'s 30. Olimpia K. forced 29 Atletico C. turnovers and outrebounded them 43-22 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpia K. shot the lights out from three sinking 25 long-distance shots on high 54.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Atletico C.'s players. American guard Christian Alaekwe (193, college: St.Thomas, TX) scored 56 points (!!!) and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Fabrizio Diaz chipped in 7 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists during the contest. Four Olimpia K. players scored in double figures. Olimpia K.'s coach Carlos Romano felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Daniel Jara responded with 7 points and 7 rebounds and Oscar Toro scored 5 points and 7 assists. Olimpia K. maintains second position with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader San Jose. Atletico C. lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost.
