Experienced Argentinian Guard Jazmin Mercado (171-G-1989) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Felix Perez and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 34-year old guard had the game-high 21 points adding nine rebounds and nine assists for Felix Perez in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Libertad (#3, 2-3) with 43-point margin 80-37. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Felix Perez to consolidate first place in the Paraguayan Metropolitan League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Felix Perez already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Mercado had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. She has many years of experience at Felix Perez, through which she has constantly improved. Mercado has impressive league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.0ppg and is league's best passer with 6.6apg. Mercado is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 5.8rpg) and averages solid 4.4spg,65.4% FGP and 55.6% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was ) of Sol de America Asuncion. impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Of course she led Olimpia to another comfortable win outscoring league's leader (#0, ) 65-41. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Olimpia consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. is one of the most experienced players at Olimpia and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was Johana Ghiringhelli of Olimpia (#4). Ghiringhelli showcased her all-around game by recording 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. She was a key player of Olimpia, leading her team to a 65-41 easy win against #2 ranked Sol de Amer.. The chances of Olimpia ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Ghiringhelli could help Olimpia to bring them higher in the standings. Ghiringhelli has a great season in Paraguay.
