There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Metropolitan League. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
Libertad - Olimpia 67-84 Very significant was Olimpia's (#2, 4-3) victory against 4th ranked Libertad (2-4) 84-67. Olimpia dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Libertad's 18 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Libertad 40-22 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Paloma Niz (175-1999) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds and Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-1986) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Olimpia players scored in double figures. International point guard Maria Perez (165-1999) responded with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Camila Bogado scored 21 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-3 record having just one point less than leader Felix Perez, which they share with Sol de Amer. Libertad lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with four games lost. Olimpia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Felix Perez. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Sol de Amer. (4-3) 91-61. Sol de Amer. made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Deportivo SJ turnovers. The winners were led by Alexa Almeida (-2005) who scored that evening 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Pamela Encina (-2005) supported her with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Sol de Amer. players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by Micaela Sosa did not help to save the game for Deportivo SJ. Adriana Notario added 14 points for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sol de Amer. moved-up to second place, which they share with Olimpia. Deportivo SJ at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.
